Congratulations & Kudos to…

Adam Clevenger (Ph.D. Student) received the Ohio Association for Counselor Education & Supervision Outstanding Doctoral Student award. The award was presented at the state conference on Friday, April 11, 2014.

Matthew Fullen, Krista Predragovich, CJ Potter (Ph.D. Students), Rob Pence (2nd year clinical counseling student), and Drs. Colette Dollarhide, Paul Granello, & Darcy Haag Granello who presented at the Spring Ohio Association for Counselor Education & Supervision conference in April, 2014.

Out of the thousands of student organizations on the OSU campus, just fourteen were recognized by the university with the 2014 Ohio State Student Organization Academic Achievement Award. This honor is presented annually to student organizations whose primary officers maintain a 3.9 GPA over the previous two semesters. The award was presented Friday, April 11, at the university’s recognition event. We are so proud of our student organization and our officers who set a wonderful example for all of our students.

Dr. Colette Dollarhide will present at the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’s Research Conference on Friday, May 16, in London, UK. The presentation, “Transformational Tasks and the Role of Professional Relationships: A Grounded Theory Approach to Understanding Professional Identity Development,” will extend the four-part research series into professional identity development that Dollarhide co-authored with Donna Gibson, Virginia Commonwealth University.

Matthew Fullen (PhD student) presented at the Ohio Association of Gerontology and Education Conference on March 28, 2014, where he received the “Dr. Jerome Kaplan Outstanding Graduate Student Paper” Award.

Jacob Klein (doctoral candidate) will be representing OSU Counselor Education at ACA in Honolulu, Hawaii. He will be presenting “Dialectical Behavior Therapy: Useful Tools and Techniques for Adolescents Who are Difficult to Treat” at 7am on Friday, March 28th (program number 117, room 317a).

 

Allisha Wedding

Allisha (Young) Berendts (current PhD student) was married to Dan on Saturday, February 22, 2014. Congratulations!

 

 

 

 

Sage Barrish

Carly Habenschuss (first year M.A. student) and husband Steve Barrish had a baby girl, Sage Katherine, on January 26, 2014. Sage attended her first Counselor Education event (interview day) on February 22nd. Welcome to the OSU Counselor Education family, Sage!

 

 

Dr. Colette Dollarhide has been invited to be on the Ohio Department of Education Team that is writing new Personal-Social Standards and Approaches Toward Learning Standards for k-3 grade students.

Dr. Darcy Haag Granello has been invited to be a charter member of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) Prevention Roundtable. The Roundtable will provide advice and practical guidance to OhioMHAS and will be encouraged to bring forward emerging issues and concerns for immediate action.

Dr. RochelDr Dunn with OSU students and alumnile Dunn (M.A. ’99; Ph.D., ’04), Visiting Professor is a recipient of the Ohio Counseling Association “Susan Sears Counselor of the Year Award,” recognizing someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty by demonstrating exceptional service as a practitioner and counselor educator. Many OSU students and alumni, as well as Dr. Dunn’s family, were on hand to help her celebrate.

 

Felice Kassoy (PhD ’13) successfully defended her dissertation and received her PhD in December, 2013.

Krista Predragovich (PhD student) has been accepted as a journal reviewer for the Ohio Journal, the Journal of Counseling Practice.

Adam Clevenger, Todd Gibbs, Krista Predragovich, & Allisha Young (PhD students) all had multiple proposals accepted for the national Association of Counselor Education & Supervision Conference in Denver, October 2013.

Krista Predragovich (PhD Student), had a presentation on campus-based suicide prevention accepted for the American College Personnel Association Conference in Indianapolis in April, 2014.

Kris Carson (M.A. Student) presented at a national gathering of the Transition to Teaching Project in Washington, DC. in summer 2013.

Krista Predragovich (PhD Student) published in the August edition of InfoChange, the newsletter for the Humanistic Counseling Association.

The picnic for students and their families/friends was September 22, 2013. Thanks to Chi Sigma Iota officers for organizing the event, to everyone who attended, and to the Drs. Granello for hosting the event in their home and backyard. It was a lovely autumn day – enjoyed by all! (pictures coming soon!)
